Sarah's Path: From Partying to Purpose with Alcoholics Anonymous

I've got a solution to all my problems through working the steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, and I feel happy, just feel happy all the time.
Ever wondered what it takes to turn your life around from the depths of addiction? Meet Sarah, a young woman whose journey from teenage drinking to full-blown alcoholism is both eye-opening and inspiring. During Alcohol Awareness Week in November 2020, Sarah and four other members of Alcoholics Anonymous East Lancashire shared their stories with BBC Radio Lancashire presenter Garry Scott. Sarah's tale stands out as a powerful narrative of hitting rock bottom and finding hope again.
Sarah's drinking started innocently enough during her teenage years, but it quickly spiraled out of control. She became a party animal, unaware that her drinking habits were different from those around her. Things took a darker turn when she began drinking at work, eventually losing her job and suffering a seizure due to her excessive alcohol consumption. But Sarah's story doesn't end in despair. Instead, it's a testament to the transformative power of Alcoholics Anonymous.
In this episode, Sarah opens up about the moment she realized she had a problem and the fear she felt about joining AA. She talks candidly about how working through the steps of AA helped her not just to stop drinking, but to rebuild her life in ways she never thought possible. Her story is one of hope, resilience, and the incredible impact of community support.
Whether you're struggling with alcohol yourself, supporting a loved one, or simply curious about the recovery process, Sarah's story offers valuable insights and a beacon of hope. Tune in to hear how she navigated the challenges of sobriety and found a new purpose through AA.
