Self-medication is never the answer. These things are a progression. I wish I got the right psychiatric help. I wish I got the right professional help. And I didn't. People need to talk about addiction and mental health as much. People have opinions and they're open to their opinions, but things like this, there's reasons behind why things like this happen, especially in my case.
Adam Paul Hicks, once a shining star of Disney's 'Lemonade Mouth', takes listeners on a raw and heartfelt journey through his battle with addiction and mental health. Starting his career at just eight years old, Adam's life seemed like a dream come true. But behind the scenes, he was grappling with immense pressure and anxiety. Turning to alcohol and Xanax for relief, his life spiraled out of control.
Tragedy struck repeatedly – his mother was diagnosed with MS, his brother's tragic car accident led to a lengthy prison sentence, and the accidental drowning of his best friend pushed him into a state of psychosis. In January 2018, Adam and his girlfriend were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery, leading to his incarceration. He spent 1,460 days in prison before being released on parole in 2022.
Now, with over five years of sobriety under his belt, Adam is focused on healing and helping others. Through his nonprofit, 'Soundtracks of Life', he aims to offer mental health therapy through music. Adam's story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of seeking help. Whether you're facing similar struggles or supporting someone who is, Adam's journey offers hope and inspiration.
