Cantrell Pittman: From Childhood Struggles to Empowered Recovery

I learned that I have the right to choose like, even when I didn't feel like I was choosing, like my environment chose what I had to do to survive.
Imagine being just five years old and already responsible for four younger siblings. This was the harsh reality for Cantrell Pittman. As he grew older, drugs seemed like an escape, a way to mask the pain and hardship. But beneath that facade was a goodness waiting to shine through. In this episode of 'Odyssey House Journals', Cantrell opens up about his turbulent journey and how he finally found a path to recovery. Cantrell's story is one of resilience and transformation.
He describes the vicious cycle of addiction as 'hell', a place where he felt trapped and powerless. Short-term treatment programs offered fleeting hope but ultimately led him back to square one. It wasn't until his mother discovered a long-term treatment program that things began to change. Over seven and a half months in treatment, Cantrell evolved from what he calls a 'fragile pup' into a leader within the recovery community.
He learned the importance of choice and self-empowerment, realizing that even when he felt like he had no options, he still had the power to choose his path. Today, Cantrell proudly declares, 'I am empowered now, I'm in control'. This episode is not just about the struggle; it's about hope, resilience, and the transformative power of long-term recovery programs. Cantrell's journey offers a beacon of hope for anyone feeling lost in the throes of addiction.
Tune in to hear his story and be inspired to take control of your own recovery journey.
