Marlisha Jones: From Struggles to Strength in Recovery

Recovery means it means life to me, because I didn't get to live it before, when I was running and I was in an abusive situation, and then I went and I was going and running the streets and doing all that stuff.
What does it take to turn your life around after years of battling addiction? Marlisha Jones knows firsthand. In this episode of 'Better Life in Recovery', host David Stoecker sits down with Marlisha, who has been sober since April 7th, 2009. Marlisha’s journey is filled with challenges, but her story is a testament to the power of faith, community, and resilience. She talks about how trauma impacted her addiction and the vital role that peer support played in her recovery.
Marlisha is now working towards her Certified Peer Specialist certification and is deeply involved in the Springfield Recovery Community Center. She also holds a local minister's license and serves as an outreach minister for The Well Aurora. This conversation is packed with insights on harm reduction strategies and the transformative power of hope. If you're looking for inspiration or practical advice on your own recovery journey, this episode is a must-listen.
Marlisha’s message is clear: no matter where you are, there is always hope for a better life.
