Bonnie Violet: Finding Spirituality Beyond Religion in Rural Idaho

I don't have to deny the parts of myself I thought I had to in order to have a relationship with god, or even Jesus, or whatever is a follow-up. I think religion exists to give the truth and the goal. But I don't think that religion is the only place you can get that.
Growing up in a small rural town in Idaho, Bonnie Violet faced many challenges in understanding spirituality and religion. In this episode of 'A Queer Chaplain', she opens up about her journey of self-discovery and how she integrates her identity as a trans genderqueer spiritual drag artist, rape survivor, and person living with HIV into her spiritual practice. Bonnie shares candid reflections on the limitations of traditional religion and offers a fresh perspective on finding personal truth and guidance.
She believes that spirituality isn't confined to religious institutions and encourages everyone to seek their own unique path. With heartfelt anecdotes and insightful discussions, this episode provides a thought-provoking look at the intersection of spirituality and identity. Tune in to hear Bonnie's inspiring story and gain a new understanding of what it means to be true to oneself.
