LeighAnn Marsh: From Inmate to Advocate in Addiction Recovery

My addiction taught me all these things, how I was my defects, let's say right. And so then now, because I've had that lesson, I had that lesson thrown in my face in my addiction and then in recovery, you learn to be really humbled.
Ever thought about how a life can flip from rock bottom to a beacon of hope? LeighAnn Marsh's story is exactly that. After spending six years in the grip of addiction, she’s now a lifeline for others walking the same tough path. Working as a case manager in the CATS program at Salt Lake County Jail, LeighAnn brings a unique blend of empathy and experience to her role. She’s been where her clients are, and she knows the way out.
In this episode of 'Odyssey House Journals', Randall Carlisle sits down with LeighAnn to unpack her incredible journey. From the depths of addiction to becoming a pivotal figure in the recovery community, LeighAnn's transformation is nothing short of inspiring. She talks candidly about her past, her struggles, and the turning points that led her to sobriety. But it doesn’t stop there.
LeighAnn dives into the nitty-gritty of her current work, sharing stories of inmates who’ve found new hope through the CATS program. What makes this episode truly compelling is LeighAnn’s perspective on the criminal justice system. Having been an inmate herself, she offers a raw and honest critique of the system and highlights the importance of education and rehabilitation over punishment. Her insights are not just theoretical; they’re lived experiences that fuel her passion for change.
