Dude, I put myself around people, places and things that I shouldn't have, and I, but I needed that, right, I got sober again.
Growing up in a party house in Ohio, Donny was no stranger to alcohol and drugs from an early age. These substances became his escape from childhood traumas, leading him down a path of addiction that spiraled into using meth, cocaine, prescription pills, and eventually heroin and fentanyl. By the age of 25, Donny faced an overdose that forced him into rehab.
Yet, it wasn't a smooth journey; two more relapses followed before he could truly admit to himself that he was an addict. This acknowledgment marked the beginning of his recovery journey. Central to Donny's transformation were the 12 steps, which helped him rebuild not just his physical health but also his mental wellbeing. He learned to be present with his family, cherishing the moments he once missed due to his addiction.
Spiritual experiences along the way provided him with hope and the strength to continue. Donny's story is one of resilience and determination. His candid sharing offers valuable insights for anyone grappling with addiction or supporting someone who is.
