Sean Owens: Finding Light in the Darkness of Addiction

Today I mean I read all the time. And you know one of the reasons I just felt like really called for some reason, whoever it was, to reach out to you in that sort of random way, because I just knew deep down that what you could provide for you know this world for my guests, for you know, my audience for other recovering people was just a big dose of inspiration in terms of know how, no matter how far we go down there, one is there's hope.
Sean Owens' story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. In this episode of 'The Unbreakable Boundaries Podcast', Sean opens up about his tumultuous journey from a childhood marked by instability and abuse to a life of sobriety and hope. Raised in a chaotic environment with a father addicted to drugs and a mother juggling three jobs, Sean moved 21 times before turning 18.
His early years were a whirlwind of uncertainty and pain, compounded by a verbally and physically abusive brother. Seeking an escape, Sean turned to drugs at just 11 years old, setting off a destructive path that saw him battling daily alcohol consumption and cocaine use by age 21. The chameleon effect took over as he tried to fit into any mold to gain acceptance, leaving him feeling hollow and disconnected. By 22, he was deeply entrenched in opiate addiction.
At his lowest point, beaten and desperate, Sean made the courageous decision to turn himself into jail at 25. This marked the beginning of his road to recovery. Now, with nearly seven years of sobriety under his belt, Sean reflects on the critical role of a support system and spirituality in his journey. His story is not just about overcoming addiction; it's about finding oneself amid chaos and learning to thrive.
Tune in to hear Sean's candid account of his struggles and triumphs, offering a beacon of hope for anyone grappling with similar battles.
