The beautiful thing was that I had destroyed my life. I had to sit there and listen to this guy. That guy talked openly and honestly about his feelings as a man. And he would get up, suit up, go to work, work an honest day's work, go get something to eat, go to a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous, not to take, but to give, to be of service to the new guys coming into the room. And then he would go out to coffee with these guys and then he would go home and he would get in bed. Using the tools that Alcoholics Anonymous had given him. I don't care whether you like what I got to say or not. You don't like it? I loved that because it made it clear to me, this guy's not selling me this deal. If I don't want it, fine, go to another meeting. I'm coming back. I'm coming back. I left there with something I had not had for years that I think is the most important thing. Any alcoholic can give another alcoholic. That guy gave me hope.
