In this heartfelt episode of The Addiction Connection Podcast, Crystal Burt shares her powerful story of transformation and redemption. Born and raised in Fort Payne, Alabama, Crystal's early life was marked by chaos and substance abuse. At just 14, she was introduced to meth by her own mother, setting her on a destructive path that included addiction, unhealthy relationships, and eventually losing custody of her children.
Despite hitting rock bottom, Crystal's story takes a hopeful turn when she decides to seek help while in jail. She courageously asks the judge not to release her, leading her to the Summit of Fort Payne—a one-year intensive discipleship program for women battling addiction. Through the program, Crystal learns about Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the concept that addiction is not a disease but a choice rooted in sin and self-worship.
Her newfound faith and understanding bring about a profound change in her life. After completing the program in 2020, Crystal is offered a full-time job at the Summit, where she now helps other women facing similar struggles. Her children are back in her life, and she finds joy in sharing her testimony with others, offering them hope and a different way of thinking. This episode is a testament to the power of faith and community in overcoming addiction.
Crystal's journey from addiction to recovery is both inspiring and uplifting, reminding us that no one is beyond hope or redemption. Tune in to hear Crystal's story and be encouraged by the incredible ways lives can be transformed.
