Casey W's Journey: From Teenage Alcoholism to 31 Years of Sobriety

I think there's a couple of pieces in the book that really resonate with me and have resonated with me more recently, because you know we talk about it over and over again in the book.
Ever wondered if it's possible to overcome teenage alcoholism and lead a fulfilling life of sobriety? Casey W’s story on 'Sober Shares' offers a compelling answer. At a young age, Casey found himself emulating the adults around him, picking up habits like drinking and smoking. Loneliness and the absence of his parents, who were often busy with work, left him to his own devices, and alcohol quickly became a central part of his life.
By high school, things spiraled out of control—think phone calls home for bad behavior, sleeping in his car, and even car crashes. Casey's life was heading down a dangerous path, until he was pushed to attend an AA meeting to 'get the heat off'. Two weeks later, he began his journey to sobriety. Initially, Casey found himself uncomfortable at AA meetings, even needing a few beers just to get through them.
He was also disheartened to learn that faith played a role in the recovery process. Yet, despite these hurdles, Casey stuck with it. His story isn't just about battling alcoholism; it's about finding a new way of life through the support of Alcoholics Anonymous. Casey highlights the importance of meetings, sponsorship, and most notably, honesty and humility. His faith and prayer have also been cornerstones in his recovery.
As he puts it, certain passages in AA literature have deeply resonated with him over the years. This episode is more than just an account of Casey's struggles; it's a beacon of hope for anyone dealing with alcoholism. Tune in to hear Casey's inspiring journey and discover how honesty, humility, and faith can pave the way to a life of sobriety.
