Martha Jones: Celebrating 25 Years of Sobriety and Advocacy

Through you guys, and through my sobriety and through recovery, and through Years of trying to do the right thing, my hope is that I am.
What does it take to stay sober for 25 years? Martha Jones knows all too well. On July 20th, she celebrated this incredible milestone, marking her journey from chaos to calm. Growing up with alcoholic parents, Martha's early life was a rollercoaster of privilege mixed with terror. Despite these challenges, she has emerged not just as a survivor but as a fierce advocate against human trafficking and child exploitation. Martha's road to sobriety wasn't smooth.
A DUI in her early days was a wake-up call, pushing her to quit drinking and driving. Moving to Manhattan brought its own set of struggles, including debilitating panic attacks. Though she had attended AA meetings in Beverly Hills, the concept of '13th stepping' made her wary of seeking help in New York. Yet, through sheer determination and the support of a community, Martha found her way back to sobriety.
In this episode of 'Recovery Survey', Martha opens up about the importance of therapy and the genetic components of addiction. She shares her experience of turning over evidence of child exploitation to law enforcement and supporting her son through specialized PTSD therapy. Her story is a powerful reminder that addiction affects not just the individual but their entire family. Martha's journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
Her advocacy work and personal experiences offer hope to anyone grappling with addiction or trauma. Tune in to hear how she turned her life around and continues to fight for others. Her story isn't just inspiring; it's a call to action for all of us to support the recovery community and break the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction.
