Amy Field's Path to Sobriety: From Struggles to Success

I was thinking at the time prior to that I was going to run out the door and leave the program and get home to my son because I had to be there for him. And when I saw her fall out of the bed having a seizure- at she was only years old- I stopped and go. I was willing to do it, and I mean I know Last Week I was listening to the podcast and Hillary even brought that up and mentioned that, and it's just a really important message, almost like giving up hope of a better past, and you can't dwell on it.
What happens when you realize you're repeating the same destructive patterns you grew up with? In this episode of 'Let The Journey Begin', Jason Wahler and Alex Meschi (filling in for Hilary Roberts) sit down with Amy Field, Clinical Director of Gratitude Lodge, to uncover her remarkable journey to sobriety. Growing up in a chaotic household, Amy turned to drugs and alcohol as an escape.
Her substance use escalated over the years, starting with cigarettes and moving on to stronger substances. It wasn’t until she had her son that she experienced a moment of clarity, recognizing she was on the same dark path as her parents. Determined to break the cycle for her children, Amy sought help and found her calling in the treatment field.
Now, with 35 years of sobriety under her belt, Amy shares how compassion and understanding have been key to her success. She also delves into the evolution of treatment methods over the decades and warns about the dangers of body brokering. Whether you're on your own recovery journey or supporting someone who is, Amy's story offers hope and practical insights.
