I just say don't let those outside, don't let them spoil it for you. You know, you stay connected to Christ, you stay connected to the scriptures, and if you need to go someplace else to find a pastor who it's not all about him and a worship leader who it's not all about him, then do that's what I did.
Imagine stepping into a place of worship, only to feel the weight of manipulation and control. In this episode of 'Confessions of a Worship Leader', host Branon Dempsey sits down with Bible teacher and music artist Michael Card to tackle the heavy topic of spiritual abuse in worship settings. Michael shares his personal experiences and sheds light on how narcissistic leaders can turn a sanctuary into a place of pride and control.
His insights are not just theoretical; they come from years of navigating the complex landscape of faith and music. The conversation touches on the pitfalls of commercialising worship and the detrimental effects of celebrity culture within churches. Michael passionately talks about the need to return to the example set by Jesus, focusing on genuine, faith-driven communities rather than showmanship.
His reflections are a call to embrace a holistic approach to worship—one that involves obedience, caring for others, and immersing oneself in Scripture. For anyone who has felt disillusioned by toxic leadership in their spiritual journey, this episode offers a beacon of hope. Branon and Michael's discussion is filled with practical advice and heartfelt encouragement, urging listeners to share their own stories and seek healing.
If you're looking for a way to reclaim your faith and find authentic worship, this conversation is a must-listen.
