I'm an alcoholic. I've been in sobriety quite a few times, and I've never gone all in. I don't want to change behaviors. I don't want to change things I don't want to talk about. I'm grateful for this fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. I keep my life private. A lot of that due to shame and just I think people wouldn't understand what I've been through or haven't drank the way I drank. And then I come here and I meet people that drink like I drink, feel the pain that I feel, go through all the hard times that I've gone through.
Imagine hitting rock bottom and finding a way to climb back up. In this episode of 'Big Book Awakening', Luis L. opens up about his incredible journey to sobriety, marking nine years of continuous recovery. He reflects on the struggles he faced with identity, bullying, and alcoholism, and how these battles impacted his family and relationships.
One poignant moment that led him to seek help was during his sister-in-law's wedding, a turning point that set him on the path to change. Through the support of Alcoholics Anonymous and a deep commitment to sobriety, Luis has transformed his life, embracing faith, forgiveness, and gratitude along the way.
This episode also features moving stories from other members of the Twelve Steps program, showcasing the powerful sense of community and fellowship that has helped them in their own recovery journeys. If you're looking for a story of hope and transformation, Luis's candid account will resonate deeply.
