Patty Powers: From the Depths of Addiction to a Life Reclaimed

I just had to let them show me and I could never think that I was the one who knew how, because I had no experience in staying clean and that kind of willingness and humility.
Imagine moving from the chaos of strip clubs and drug dens to a life of purpose and sobriety. That's the incredible journey of Patty Powers, who opens up about her tumultuous past on The SHAIR Recovery Podcast with Omar Pinto. Patty's story begins with teenage experimentation with alcohol and drugs, which quickly spiraled into a full-blown addiction. By eighteen, she was in New York City, mingling with fellow addicts and getting lost in the art and music scenes.
Each time her life took a turn for the worse, she would retreat to Toronto, only to fall back into old habits. Her addiction reached its peak in Los Angeles, where she ended up living alone in an abandoned building, completely isolated from her former life. But this low point became a turning point. In December 1988, Patty entered a treatment facility in New Orleans for heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine addiction.
She emerged 42 days later, clean and ready to face the world anew. Patty's candid recounting of her recovery journey is both harrowing and hopeful. She discusses how she navigated the treacherous waters of addiction and the pivotal moments that led her to seek help. Her story is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the possibility of transformation, no matter how dire the circumstances.
Today, Patty is a clean recovery coach, helping others find their path to sobriety. Her journey serves as an inspiration to anyone struggling with addiction, showing that it's never too late to reclaim your life. Tune in to hear Patty's remarkable story and be inspired to take the first step towards your own recovery.
