Alcoholics Anonymous came into my life throughout my whole life. I just didn't think it was for me, in spite of all the pain, all the suffering and all the ups and downs and all the craziness that I went through.
Angel's story begins in a household where alcohol was as common as water. With a bar in his home and a family that drank socially, Angel found himself sneaking sips as early as five years old. By his teenage years, alcohol had become his crutch, giving him the courage to perform on stage with his band. But it didn't stop there; soon, he was using and selling drugs, which eventually led to a four-year stint in jail.
It was behind bars that Angel first sought sobriety, earning his GED and trying to turn his life around. However, old habits die hard, and just one day after his release, he found himself back in the same destructive patterns. It took another seven years for Angel to truly embrace sobriety. Throughout his journey, Alcoholics Anonymous was a constant yet unconvincing presence. He doubted its effectiveness for him until he reached a breaking point.
Today, Angel shares his gripping story on Steppin' Out Radio.
